DESCRIPTION: Netherlands, Frisian stoelklok, 30 hour, time and strike, weight driven movement with verge escapement, the clock resting on a polychrome painted shelf with scrolled decorations and lead ornaments with crowned lions, Roman numeral painted metal dial with landscape painting above, and pierced brass hands.
CONDITION: Case with simpler-than-usual painted design is quite attractive. One side ornament and dust shied will need to be reinstalled. One of the lead lion ornaments has cracked through the middle. Lead ornament above the dial has a broken top. Good brass clad weight and pendulum. Though the hour hand has the marking for an alarm, the clock is not equiped with an alarm mechanism. The crowned lion is likely a symbol of the Dutch Republic.
